Primary School

A key stage where students develop autonomy, critical thinking, and language skills through projects and experiences grounded in Marist values.

A stage to grow, discover talents, and learn with enthusiasm

At Champagnat Primary School, students consolidate their learning and develop essential skills for their academic and personal future.

Through the International Baccalaureate Continuum (PYP and MYP), students strengthen critical thinking, inquiry, communication, and collaborative learning through active and meaningful experiences.

Within a caring and supportive environment, they build autonomy, form friendships, and learn to connect classroom discoveries with the world around them.

  • PYP to MYP (IB): integrated projects and active learning
  • Languages: intensive English and Portuguese
  • Holistic formation: Marist values, interiority, arts, and sports

How the IB continuum develops in Primary School

PYP (Grades 1–5): Learning that Connects and Gives Meaning

Through units of inquiry, students integrate different areas of knowledge and build meaningful learning experiences. They learn to ask questions, investigate, analyze, and apply what they learn to everyday life.

The PYP exhibition (Grade 5): A milestone project

Students conclude this stage with a collaborative project where they inquire, integrate learning, and propose solutions to real-world issues. They develop leadership, creativity, research, and communication skills.

Beginning of the MYP (Grade 6): Transition with autonomy and vision

In Grade 6, students begin the Middle Years Programme (MYP), strengthening analytical thinking, communication, and personal management skills. It is a solid step toward the challenges of Secondary School and an education with a global perspective.

How our students learn

Holistic formation with marist values

We guide our students to grow in balance, strengthening their socio-emotional development, relationships, and the internalization of values. We form well-rounded, confident, and socially responsible students.

Languages: intensive English and Portuguese

English is developed through an intensive and progressive approach. As a Cambridge English Educational Partner, we prepare our students for international certifications from Primary School onward. We also introduce Portuguese as a third language starting in Grade 5, expanding students’ global outlook.

Interiority program: learning to know themselves and grow from within

We guide students in managing their emotions, strengthening their well-being and relationship with God, while developing their inner life and fostering personal balance and positive relationships.

Experiences that enrich learning

We complement academic learning with projects, activities, and experiences that connect education with the real world. Educational visits, solidarity and pastoral initiatives, co-curricular activities, sports teams, and artistic groups (upon application and evaluation) allow students to represent the school in organizations such as ADECOPA, strengthening talents, discipline, and teamwork.
